Community Veterans Breakfast and Stand Down Event Date of Event: 11/13/2021

On November 13th, 2021 Operation Compassion of Mercer County held their annual Community Veterans Breakfast and Stand Down Event. Every year they offer a free breakfast and provide much needed supplies to veterans and their families who are financially in need and physically in need. They hold this event to honor them for their service to our country. The event is held in Princeton, WV, found in the southern part of the state where many of their veterans are financially disadvantaged due to the economy of WV.

This year they conducted a COVID safe distribution that was entirely outdoors. Veterans stayed in their cars and items were placed in their vehicles by volunteers. It was an incredible success and went smoothly. They had anticipated about 400 veterans plus their family members, however, they calculated that about 450 veterans were served based upon the number of cars and the number of veterans in each car.
