Disabled Veterans National Foundation Approves 32 Organizations to Receive $325,00 in Grant Funding

May 11, 2016

WASHINGTON, DC – May 11, 2016 – The Disabled Veterans National Foundation (DVNF) (www.dvnf.org), is announcing that it has approved 32 new organizations to receive $325,000 in grant funding through it’s Capacity Building Grants program.

These organizations were selected for grant funding based off of a number of specific criteria established by DVNF. Grant funding is intended to go to like-minded organizations, whose programs aim to support the mental and/or physical health and wellbeing of veterans.

There is no specific type of initiative to whom DVNF awards grants, because DVNF recognizes that no two veterans face the same issues, and that some initiatives may help one veteran more than another.

“I am pleased to have the opportunity to present these organizations with funding that will hopefully go a long way to addressing the critical needs of veterans,” said DVNF CEO, Joseph VanFonda (USMC SgtMaj Ret.). “All 32 of these groups do great work, and we are glad to call them partners, as we all help veterans achieve a successful transition back to civilian life.”

Of the initiatives being awarded a grant, many involve outdoor rehabilitation for mental and physical health. Others include art therapy, equine therapy, research and development, and many other unique programs.

About DVNF:

The Disabled Veterans National Foundation exists to provide critically needed support to disabled and at-risk veterans who leave the military wounded—physically or psychologically—after defending our safety and our freedom.

We achieve this mission by:

  • Providing an online resource database that allows veterans to navigate the complex process of seeking benefits that they are entitled to as a result of their military service, as well as additional resources they need.
  • Offering direct financial support to veteran organizations that address the unique needs of veterans, and whose missions align with that of DVNF.
  • Providing supplemental assistance to homeless and low-income veterans through the Health & Comfort program and various empowerment resources.
  • Serving as a thought leader on critical policy issues within the veteran community, and educating the public accordingly.

We are helping to rebuild lives, and through our relationships with innovative organizations around the country, we are changing the way we approach giving back to veterans.
