Accelerated Wellness Program: There is not “One Size Fits All”

Veterans Alternative understands that there is not a “one size fits all” when it comes to addressing mental health for our Combat Veterans. For this reason, our mission is to improve the quality of life of our Nations Warriors.

One of our Accelerated Wellness Program participants, Stef, wished to share this about our program:

“Since attending the Veterans Alternative program, I feel like I have regained control over my future. I can now look at situations in a positive light, even under the most stressful circumstances. I have finally been able to accept everything for what it is and live my life optimistically. Veterans Alternative taught me mindfulness activities that allow me to stay in the present and not let my reoccurring traumatic memories control me”.

Veterans Alternative recognizes the need to meet our participants where they are and uses a strengths-based perspective to promote Post-Traumatic Growth- the concept that there is a life and growth to be had post- trauma.

Stef stated: “When I came across this program I was on multiple medications, I was very unsure of my future, and like many returning veterans, I was looking for my new purpose. I have now reduced my medications, implemented a healthy diet, and practice yoga daily. I feel like the best possible version of myself. Veterans Alternative has always been a place I know I can visit anytime to find camaraderie.  The staff are always considering the welfare of the Veteran and ensuring it’s a safe place to be able to relax. There is always something to look forward to when you are at Veterans Alternative”.

Stef’s story is a reminder to everyone at Veterans Alternative that we are making a positive impact on the lives of our Warriors. Our dedicated team will continue to work hard to bring this program to as many of our Nations Warriors as possible and is grateful that Disabled Veterans National Foundation has chosen to support our mission.

We are helping to rebuild lives, and through our relationships with innovative organizations around the country, we are changing the way we approach giving back to veterans.
