162 Veteran Households Fed: VFAP Impact in August and September

September 25, 2026

In August and September, DVNF’s Veterans Food Assistance Program (VFAP) approved 162 applications and put over $50,000 toward groceries and household essentials for Veterans and their families. Each approval meant a delivery of food arriving at a Veteran’s door.

Impact at a glance

  • August: 83 applications approved, $25,573.94 in groceries and essentials
  • September: 79 applications approved, $27,601.28 in groceries and essentials
  • Combined: 162 Veteran households served, $53,175.22 invested in food assistance

VFAP was created with one goal: that no Veteran goes hungry. The program is open to all Veterans and their families, not only those with a service-connected disability. Grants are sized to each household, so a Veteran with children receives more support than a Veteran living alone.

What sets VFAP apart is how personal it is. Applicants choose the groceries they need and share their dietary preferences and allergies. Once an application is approved, the DVNF program team does the shopping and arranges delivery directly to the Veteran’s home. Orders can include fresh produce, dairy, meat and fish, pantry staples, and household supplies like toilet paper, dish soap, and laundry detergent.

DVNF is deeply grateful to the donors who made these deliveries possible. To help put groceries on the next Veteran’s table, give to VFAP here. Veterans in need of support can learn more and apply.
