One of DVNF’s 2016 grant recipients, Veterans Healing Veterans From the Inside Out, sent us this video. This is their founder, Ron Self, an incarcerated veteran, who is determined to make a difference for veterans in crisis. He gives us this TED Talk from inside San Quentin

His powerful story of his failed suicide attempt, the feelings that veterans have when they return home from combat or upon their exit from the military, and the difficulty they all face, and why some like him end up in prison in the first place, gives you some insight into how hard it is for so many veterans to decompress.

But it’s his “Boot Camp Out” solution to curbing veteran suicides that is truly remarkable.
