Other ways you can help honor the men and women who served our country.
We must welcome and honor our heroes as they return home from our armed forces today. After the sacrifices they made for their fellow Americans, we feel it is every citizen’s obligation to make sure each veteran gets all of the rights and benefits they have earned. Please read below about additional ways you can help our veterans:
- Give your time and talents to support the care of America’s veterans by volunteering at your nearest Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) hospital, nursing home, or clinic.
- Contact your Senators and Representatives in Congress and urge them to introduce and support legislation that provides for mandatory funding of Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Health Care thus providing quality, timely health care services for veterans disabled as a result of military service.
Mandatory funding would eliminate the year-to-year uncertainty about funding levels that have prevented the VA from adequately planning and meeting the growing needs of veterans seeking care.
- Show your patriotism and honor your disabled veterans by displaying THE AMERICAN FLAG. If you have a flag … please fly it!
- Honor our heroes who sacrificed so much so that we may enjoy the freedoms we have today and please remember their families. Visit and encourage your friends and family to visit your local memorial to reflect on sacrifices made by our brave service men and women. Also encourage them to participate in their local Veterans Day and Memorial Day observations.
- Encourage support of Federal and State legislators who actively pursue legislation that positively impacts our nation’s veterans.
